ABOUT STASMO
Began meeting
November of 2005 to determine if there was sufficient interest among Valley
school district maintenance officials and related vendors to make it
"official" and register STASMO with the state. On May 1, 2006 paperwork
was accepted to recognize STASMO as a non-profit corporation registered with
the State.
In June of 2008
we applied to the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASB) for
Affiliate status. In August of 2008 we were officially accepted as an
affiliate of TASB.
Purpose. The idea behind the formation
of STASMO was to develop an organization where people involved in school
maintenance across the Valley and beyond could come together to share ideas,
information, best practices, develop friendships all in the interests of being
able to be more effective and efficient in our respective districts.
Along the way by
being an organized body with various school districts in membership we have
also been able to attract training opportunities to our area that in the past
would have required us to travel out of the Valley.
Being an entity
made up of educators of one form or fashion we have also established a
scholarship program to help students
in maintenance related programs at South Texas College (STC), Texas
State Technical Colleges (TSTC) as well as members and or family members of
our own organization in their endeavor for higher education.
